Australia registered an enthralling victory over India as they chased the target of 223 set by India. Glenn Maxwell equaled the record of the fastest T20I century for Australia and the player with the most International Hundreds in T20 Internationals. This was not a victory where they completely outplayed the opposition but a victory to show that they can win a game from any kind of situation.

Game time for youngsters

Australia made a few changes giving game time to some of its players. They looked good in different parts of the game. They started brilliantly in the powerplay and restricted India to just 81 in 10 overs on a good batting surface. They lost their way after that as Gaikwad batted as good as he ever did.

Aaron Hardie got important game time as he bowled his quota of 4 overs and opened the batting. Though it was a bad outing for him it is part of his learning curve given it was the first time he was bowling in India. Tanvir Sangha bowled too short at times and got punished. Wade throwing the ball to Maxwell in the final over also didn’t help their cause as he conceded 30 off the final over.

Glenn Maxwell’s Mayhem

Playing his first game of the series Travis Head gave Australia a much better start from the previous two games as he and Hardie put 42 runs for the opening stand. Australia looked in trouble after losing quick wickets, but it was again their crisis man Glenn Maxwell who kept them in the hunt with his batting. He again showed why he is such a dangerous batsman playing shots all around the ground.

With Stoinis not getting his timing right at the other end looked like Maxwell was batting on a different level. The composure he showed in this innings was so good to watch. Even with 78 required in the last 5 they hardly panicked, and the Indian Bowlers looked under pressure. And with Captain Mathew Wade supporting him well from the other end, he completed his 4th ton in 47 balls and completed a record-successful chase against India in the T20 Internationals.
