ICC WTC Finals has left Indian fans in dismay, as the possibility for India to stage a comeback seems more than ambiguous.  Sourav Ganguly showcased his faith in India that they have the might and potency to stage a comeback, they have done it before in many situations and they can certainly do it now as well. India will definitely wage a fightback against Australia, says Sourav Ganguly.

Day 3 was equally struggling for India, though they managed to surpass the predetermined score, they are still well-behind to Australia. The Men in Blue have a long rally ahead and need to be patient if the side want to make a comeback in the WTC Final 2021-23.

“They Just Need To Forget About The Scoreboard..” – Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly believes that India should not focus on the scorecard. They need to racked up as many runs as they could, and assert dominance over Australia. He told the broadcaster ahead of the game:

“India have the ability to make a comeback from this situation. India did against Australia, in Australia with batters like Pant and Jadeja. Especially Pant who batted magnificently out of their skin to see them through. If they can do it again, am not too sure. They just need to forget about the scorecard and go and play and put up a partnership,” Sourav Ganguly said.

Highlights on Day 3

Day 3 was less of a hell-bound for India, as they managed to avoid the dreadful follow-on by scoring 296-run rally before getting it all out. India staged a great comeback, with the help of Ajinkya Rahane, who smacked 89 runs, he made a fashionable comeback after being dropped from the Indian Team due to his poor performance in South Africa test series 2022. But his outstanding form in IPL as well as in Ranji provided him a spot in Indian Team that he well deserved.  Thakur and Rahane both provided a new lease of life to India.

Shardul Thakur joined hands with Rahane, who then went on to build a long stand partnership of 109 runs on the 7th wicket. Rahane looked formidable and destined to reach the three figure mark but failed to do so as he was quickly dismissed by Cummins after lunch break. The Australian skipper dismissed Umesh Yadav soon after, but Shardul managed to reach his half-century as he played an outstanding rearguard knock. He was dismissed by Cameron Green, and Mohammad Shami lost his wicket to Mitchell Starc in the quest for some quick runs.

Australia’s batting so far has been an average, as they are starring themselves down on a barrel of 123/4, though they are still leading 296 runs and will comfortably reach the 300 mark by tomorrow. India will look to take wickets in a rapid-fire manner and will try to withhold  them under 200 to stand a chance of winning. It is going to be a difficult task as Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green are both playing commendable, India has to find ways to dismiss them quickly and curb Australia from gathering runs.
