Paras Mhambrey, the bowling coach of India, stated that the bowlers lacked discipline and focus at the onset of The WTC finals. They started well in the first hour against Australia at the Oval in London but were unable to make the most of it as Paras Mhambrey was quite dejected.

India opted to bowl first, and Siraj provided India with the early breakthrough, Thakur also took the wicket of in-form batter David Warner, and after lunchtime, Shami struck a big wicket of Labuschagne, but after that India failed to make an impact. India’s pacer lost steam and lone spinner Ravindra Jadeja was not able to get them breakthroughs.

“We Conceded A Little More Than We Would Have Preferred..” Paras Mhambrey

Paras Mhambrey felt they played well in the first half and did not concede many runs, but after that India went downhill as Australia’s batters pile up runs. He mentioned while talking to the Press on Wednesday:

“In terms of the bowling, we could have been a little more disciplined. We started off very well. In the first 12-13 overs, we bowled in the right areas. But maybe after that, we kind of weren’t disciplined with our bowling. We conceded a little more than we would have preferred.” Paras told the Press.

“The pitch did a little bit in the morning. It seemed around a bit in the first hour. As the day progressed, the pitch got a little flatter than what we expected it would be,” he added.

Mhambrey Is Hopeful That India Will Make A Comeback

India is in a precarious situation after surrendering a considerable number of runs, but Mhambrey remains optimistic that India can stage a comeback.

“Why not (Can India bounce back?) I thought the conditions… the pitch got better. We took the second new ball and there was some seam and movement of the pitch after that. Tomorrow morning is very important for us. If we pick up one or two early wickets, we have the opportunity to come back into the contest,” Mhambrey said.

India has to deliver big on the second day, if they want to keep Australia under 450 runs, it will be a difficult challenge for the Asian Giants and only quick wickets can save them.
