Former India World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth is not happy with the exclusion of Ruturaj Gaikwad from the World Cup Squad. He said Ruturaj Gaikwad who has been in wonderful form is completely ignored by the selectors and Shubman Gill is preferred in the traveling reserves for the marquee event.
Shubman Gill who was appointed captain of Gujarat Titans at the start of the Indian Premier League is not having a season to remember. His side side struggling in the points table languishing at eighth position just above Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Shubman has score has scored 320 runs in 10 matches for Gujarat Titans this season.
Kris Srikkanth seemed disappointed as Ruturaj Gaikwad was not included in the World Cup squad as he currently holds the orange cap and is also doing a decent job leading his franchise. He has scored 509 runs in 1o matches for Chennai Super Kings.

“He ( Ruturaj Gaikwad) scored more than 500 runs in 17 T20I innings. Also, he scored a century against Australia. Shubman Gill is totally out of form, but why is he selected in the team? Shubman Gill is the selectors’ delight. He gets a chance even if he fails. He finds a place even if he fails in Test, ODIs and T20s. There’s too much favoritism in selection. The team selection is all about favoritism,”
Gaikwad has been scoring runs at a healthy strike rate too, strike rate of 146.6 and averaging 63.62 which is phenomenal.
Kris Srikkanth Slams selectors for excluding Rinku Singh
In the same video Kris Srikkanth slamed the Indian Selectros for excluding the finisher Rinku Singh from the 15 man squad. He said :
“This is rubbish, rubbish selection. Why do you need 4 spinners? All of them have to go? You have made the selection to please a few people and you have made Rinku Singh a scapegoat,“
Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar attended a press conference where they said Rinku Singh was only excluded because of the team combinations and nothing else.
