Gautam Gambhir always had been a fierce and bold captain and often captivated controversies because of his attitude inside the field, though it may be while leading the Indian Team or the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL. Gautam Gambhir clarified as to why he used to be so angry and heated up all the time was to boost their morals up for the challenge. He [Gambhir] felt that this way is necessary for the team.

Gautam Gambhir emphasized the fact that the perception of being calm as a captain from the outside is purely subjective and believes that a leader is looked upon by others during tough situations and that is the exact moment where the leader should stand strong. Gautam Gambhir told exclusively on Sportskeeda about his aggressive captaincy style:
“Sometimes you need to have an aggressive approach as a leader if you want your team to be aggressive. Sometimes you need to do things you didn’t want to. When I look back at my career, I have done some things I shouldn’t have done, But I believed if I didn’t get aggressive and didn’t lead by example, my team won’t play aggressively,”
A player should be judged by how he is in the off field- Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir considers that the players must express themselves in their own best way once they enter the field so that they can get the best out of themselves, irrespective of what anyone feels or says. he also urged that one must maintain composure outside the field as it is equally important.
On this, he stated:
“I feel every player and every leader has the right to express themselves on the field. A player should not be judged just by how he is on the field, but how he is off it should be looked at,”
Gambhir has had quite a few squabbles with Virat Kohli on the field. But lately, the duo has shared a strong bond between them and also Gambhir went on to say that some situations are better if they are just dumped and not dragged on.
