On Sunday Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets and sealed their position in playoffs. Skipper Sanju Samson was in red-hot form smashing 71 runs with his partner Dhruv Jurel who also scored a quick half-century for which he was adjourned player of the match.
Rajasthan is looking in a solid touch as they have almost sealed the top position and are through to the playoffs. Skipper Sanju Samson is also leading from the front till now with the bat he scored 385 runs with four half-centuries. Sanju Samson at the time has also showcased his leadership skills and can be a candidate for captaincy of India in the near future.
Hayden advises Indian selectors to include Sanju Samson for T20 WC 2024
It’s only a month to go until the carnival of the ICC T20 World Cup will begin in the USA and West Indies. The Indian team is going to declare the squad on May 1 by holding a press conference in Mumbai. Still, there are speculations about who will be in the final 15. Contenders for the World Cup are preparing and giving their level best but still have no idea who will make it.
The main slot that is considered is wicket-keeper and for that three prominent contenders are sweating day and night to make it in the final 15, but selectors carry a tradition overlooking Sanju Samson who is in red-hot form and scoring well. Past 3-4 years he hardly received the chance to play for India recently he scored a century against South Africa in South Africa. Selectors purposely overlook him either they include him in the squad but don’t get a chance or else rule out from the squad for the next series.
Former Aussie player Mathew Hayden has shown interest and advised Indian selectors to give top priority to Sanju Samson who has always been overlooked and not able to make it to the squad. The 29-year-old player is very consistent and currently his form is at top so he should be consider in the final 15. Since KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant who also are in race have more chance over Sanju.
Since Rishabh have made a comeback after disastrous accident in Ipl 2024. KL who was good with gloves behind the stumps in World Cup 2023 have slight upper hand over Sanju. But considering his current form he should make in that squad. Mathew Hayden says:
“With Sanju, he always seems to get overlooked for national honors. I honestly been saying this for a decade, I don’t know why because he is a serious hitter of the ball and if you put him up top, he does the damage through the phases. Tonight was the perfect captain’s knock and guess what, he did it in the end,” said Hayden, while speaking on Star Sports.
Curtain will fall on most likely May 1 and will get to know who is flying to USA.
