Waqar Younis is a cricketing legend from Pakistan whose fiery pace and deadly yorkers terrorised batsmen throughout the 1990s and earned him the title “Toe Crusher”. With over 790 international wickets across formats, Younis remains one of Pakistan’s most successful bowlers, known for his devastating reverse swing and yorkers.

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be bowled into action on June 1st, co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. It is the first time a major cricket tournament will be played in the US. New Zealand became the first team to announce their squad, with the final match set for June 29th.

Pakistan’s Squad Predicted By Waqar Younis

With the T20 World Cup 2024 just around the corner, Pakistani cricket legend Waqar Younis has shared his picks for the team. We are all eagerly waiting for the action to begin in less than 40 days. Even though the deadline for announcing squads is looming on May 1st, both India and Pakistan are keeping the fans on their toes. Waqar Younis has chosen Babar Azam to lead the team, bringing together a squad filled with experienced players.

The predicted team is as follows:

Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Imad Wasim, Abrar Ahmed, Usama Mir, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf

Some players are left out of the squad including Zaman Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Haris, and Asif Ali. But the team still packs a punch with its strong fast bowlers, specially with the mention of legendary Mohammad Amir’s comeback.

The Positive For Pakistan Ahead Of  T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan won the final T20 match against New Zealand by 9 runs in the five-match series played at home. The series ended in a draw (2-2)  with both teams winning two matches each. One positive for Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup is the return to form of Shaheen Afridi, who was awarded the Man of the Series as well.

During the post-match ceremony, Shaheen Afridi said

I am trying to get back to my best, and I always try to help my team by picking wickets whenever I am handed over the ball. I am always pushing myself to give my 100%, whether it’s bowling, batting or fielding. I watched the New Zealand team bowl in the first Innings, and the ball was keeping a bit low, so I tried bowling back-of-a-length deliveries wicket to the wicket in my first spell, and I got success,”

“At the death, Yorker is my strength, and I tried to execute that in my 2nd spell. I am not disappointed of not picking up the 5th wicket, even if I get 1 wicket and the team wins, I am more than happy for that,” he also added later on.
