ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 we witnessed yet another low-scoring thriller in New York between Bangladesh and South Africa. Bangladesh failed to chase the target and fell short by just 5 runs. Bangladesh team was quite emotional being lost for just 5 runs. Mahmudullah’s wicket was the turning point when Aiden Markram caught the bowl on long-on on the 5th bowl of the last over. A low-scoring thriller has been the most highlighted part of this World Cup and New York has produced such a series of episodes.
Najmul Hossain Shanto lauds Rishad Hossain
Bangladesh lost to South Africa in a low-scoring thriller and Bangladesh was very emotional after that defeat as they had a chance to defeat South Africa at the World Cup stage but fell short by just 5 runs. Though Bangladesh fought well with bowl and bat too and have been praised for their valiant effort. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto says that they deserved to win this match but cricket is such a sport where no one can predict the winner till the last ball. While speaking about the result he also sheds light on the young sensation Rishad Hossain who is performing well at this stage and proving his ability for Bangladesh. Najmul Hossain Shanto says:
“We were a bit nervous but we were confident we could get over the line but unfortunately it did not happen. (Tanzim Hasan) He worked hard the last couple of days, we wanted wickets with the new ball and he showed character today. This is the match we should have won, last couple of overs they bowled well. It can happen in cricket,” Najmul Hossain said.
“He is very good, the way we bowled last couple of series, he practiced very hard. We’ve struggled with leg-spinners over the last 10-15 years so we’re lucky we got one. Hopefully, he can continue. Thanks to all the supporters, hopefully, they’ll come to the West Indies as well,” concluded Shanto.
Rishad Hossain picked 2 wickets which included power hitters like Henrich Klassen and David Miller. Bangladesh has found a great spinner who will shape the future of T20IS and maybe for ODIS and Tests too. Bangladesh have two matches to go and still, they are in a hanging position whether they will qualify or not.
