Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is an asset for Bangladesh Cricket and his records are incredible in international cricket. Shakib is the only player who has represented Bangladesh in the World Cup for most times (6). Shakib’s nature is quite aggressive and short-tempered he smiles occasionally so we have seen him exchanging words either with umpires or players.

Shakib Al Hasan speaks on anti-corruption ban

When a cricketer becomes a star his stardom faces two sides one is the bright side which is the fame and the other is the dark side which creates hell for them and mostly it ends their career by indulging in some cases, scams or spot-fixing either they get life-ban or gets suspended for few periods this is somewhat Shakib Al Hasan also faced during 2019 October as he was banned by ICC’S anti-corruption unit for not reporting the Indian bookmakers and so he didn’t approach the names of bookies during tri-series and even IPL 2018. Later he was banned for two years so he wasn’t available for any international matches. Shakib says:

“Regret as far as the punishment is concerned I feel I could have informed them, there were a lot of options but it was kind of a joke and it was a lesson for me that you should not take all the things in life as a joke. I don’t know how much it will affect or not (his legacy) it is for others to decide whether it will have any effect or not I learned a lot from that period. Had this not happened I would have had a bit cleaner image,” said Shakib.

“When the investigation took place that happened before the World Cup in March or February I don’t remember at that point when I was talking with the anti-corruption unit member, I felt that there is no chance of any such thing (getting banned) and it will all be cleared because I have cooperated as much as possible,” said Shakib.

Such instances come many times in a cricketer’s life but how you should tackle them is important. In 2014, Sreesanth was arrested for match-fixing so his career was finished and was sentenced to 5 years. So, while coming across such incidents cricketers should avoid scams, bookies, match-fixing, etc., or else it will affect their mind and career as well.  Shakib Al Hasan played a crucial knock against the Netherlands in the T20 World Cup 2024 and kept Bangladesh’s hopes alive for Super8.
