Michael Atherton advises retaining Jos Buttler and Matthew Mott

As England where off to a flying start despite their loss against Australia later they controlled their campaign and went on winning matches. England qualified for Super 8 they lost to South Africa but they made a comeback against the USA and West Indies. England qualified for the semis but failed to deliver the performance so whether Jos Buttler continue as white-ball captain or resign? Jos Buttler won his captaincy T20 World Cup 2022 but the next year they failed to dominate in the ODI World Cup so they took an early exit. Even head coach Matthew Mott played a huge role in supporting the players and the style of white ball cricket was also shaped under his coaching, aggressive cricket was started by them in white ball cricket. In some tournaments luck supports but luck won’t support every time the team played quite well in this tournament they were on the verge of elimination but they showed their team spirit and qualified for the semis. Jos Buttler and Matthew Mott will continue as captains and coaches in upcoming future. On this former England skipper Michael Atherton advises that Jos Buttler and Matthew Mott should be retained and should continue to serve English cricket for a long time. Michael Atherton said:

‘I don’t feel it has been like the 50 over tournament where England made every wrong call virtually and you could point the finger at management and say ‘Why have you done this?”

“Buttler hates it when you hark back to the 50-over World Cup but that is part of the context. England has lost nine and won three against full member nations in those two World Cups, which to my mind is a reflection that the side is not as good as it was. Semi-finals are about their level and they are not quite measuring up to the top teams. Mott’s future is in the balance. I think Buttler is in a much stronger position because players are less expendable than coaches. Coaching national teams is not the plum job it once was. The best candidates want franchise jobs as there is less impingement on their family time,”

“You don’t get any prizes for getting in a semi-final but also you get a lot out of it,”

England will become even stronger in future tournaments. Jos Buttler will bring some new strategies and some new players will be added to the squad.
