ICC T20 World Cup 2024: “India, Pakistan”…- Shahid Afridi Picks Four Teams That Will Qualify For T20 World Cup 2024 Semifinals

All-rounder legend and former captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket squad, Shahid Afridi has opted for four teams that will qualify for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup according to him. They are India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Australia. But on the contrary, he chose to ignore the defending champions England, the two-time winner West Indies, and the glitzy South African team.

The T20 World Cup edition will be commencing on the 1st of June. 20 teams will be clashing for the championship title and arch-rivals India and Pakistan (Group A) will be opposing each other on June 9 in New Zealand.

Shahid Afridi reveals the teams most likely to reach semi finals

From Shahid Afridi‘s point of view, Pakistan should be playing in the finals.

“Pakistan ko mai samajhta hoon ki final khelna chahiye. So I will go with Australia, India, and, unn conditions ke andar, I will go with New Zealand,” mentioned by Afridi, who was appointed as the ambassador of the T20 World Cup on Friday on ICC.

India, Australia, and Pakistan have registered their championship title of the T20 World Cup for once, while the Kiwis have yet to win their first win shortest format of the ICC event. The Black Caps under Kane Williamson’s captaincy, were able to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2021 but were dismissed by the Australian team.

In the previous edition of the T20 World Cup held in Australia, Pakistan was unable to win the group-stage matches against India and Zimbabwe. But still, they managed to get themselves qualified for the finale. But in the end, they lost to England’s star batter Jos Buttler.

All other teams announced their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup but Pakistan mentioned they will be announcing their team’s list on the last mentioned date of submission, that is, 25th of May. But they announced it on the evening of 24th May (Friday). In their squad list, they have included Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, along with pacer Haris Rauf and spinner Abrar Ahmed. The Pakistani team will be led by Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Usmar Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseen Shah, and Abbas Afridi.
