Feels former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash, the Indian team possesses requisite number of power-hitter batsman in their line-up and this makes them favourites when it comes to playing the Pakistan team during the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan will take place in the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday and one can estimate that the match is going to be extremely close.
India’s Power-Hitting Arsenal Outshines Pakistan’s Sole Option: Ramprakash’s Analysis
On the same note, Ramprokash also mentioned that there are classy players in the Indian and Pakistan dressing rooms in Kohli and Babar Azam who can play the traditional innings. However, what makes India stronger is the presence of combination of fours and sixes where India has options in Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube while Pakistan only has Fakhar Zaman. Article Commission, which had previously been in a state of rest in the background, had stepped onto the stage once again and taken the fight to the enemy.
“In Babar Azam and Virat Kohli both sides have players of absolute world class who can come in and play a more traditional type of innings,” Ramprakash wrote in his column for The Guardian. “Where India look to have the edge is in power hitting, with Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube all high-class options. Pakistan looked poor in their two recent games in England and even worse against the USA, and need others to support Fakhar Zaman with that style of play,”
Ramprakash’s Evaluation of New York’s Pitch
The pitch in New York may not be easy to play on and since the pitch on which they are batting now is under the spotlight, Ramprakash will expect it to hold a good contest. He also opines that when they have given chances to Azam Khan, Pakistani team has also recruited him taking a risk because he has a lean trail in T20Is. Out of the last five innings, Azam has scored a total of 59 runs, with the two consecutive ducks.
“They have taken a risk on Azam Khan, who has an international T20 average of only 8.80 but brings potentially useful – if not in this particular match – experience from the Caribbean Premier League,” he wrote.
“Whether his game will be suited to a quick New York pitch that requires lightning reactions is for Pakistan to consider; the way Mark Wood dismissed him at the Oval last week, with a fast bouncer into the body, suggests he may struggle,” he added.
