ICC T20 World Cup 2024: “Everything About The West Indies Suits Me”- England Batter Phil Salt On Returning To The Caribbean For T20 World Cup 2024

England kickstarted their campaign against their neighbor Scotland but rain played as a spoilsport and the match was abandoned. England are defending champions of the T20 World Cup they won in 2022. This time England looks super strong though they faced a purple patch in World Cup 2023 but they will start with a fresh forgetting all about the past.

England won the T20i series against Pakistan before heading to West Indies to kickstart their World Cup. Star bowler and home player Jofra Archer is also back in the squad after sustaining an injury and many players were returned to England for the World Cup preparation in between the IPL.

Phil Salt feels good to be back at home

England’s star opener Phil Salt used to reside earlier in the West Indies during his childhood but later migrated to England and started playing cricket for England and now he is one of the key players for England in white-ball cricket. Phil Salt saw the growth of West Indies cricket in white-ball when he used to live there and has seen legends like Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, etc. so he too fascinated with cricket a lot and so started playing. Let’s see what Phil Salt feels about home-coming:

“Everything about the place suits me. Pretty laid back, a lot of cricket, a lot of sport and I’ve still got a lot of friends on the island,” Salt was quoted as saying by the ICC’s official website for the World Cup. “I watched England here, watched them win it. I think every kid in the crowd would have gone, that’s going to be me one day, or I’d like that to be me one day, but you never believe it,” he said.

“So now to be here in an England shirt, with the opportunity to do something special in the next month is incredible really. I got a touch of the trophy that day. “That’s the thing that always sticks with me when I think about that day. When I was a kid, anybody who hit the ball hard or kept, I’d watch them on YouTube and just try and try and emulate them. I want to be the person winning more games for England,” he said.

Phil Salt debuted for England in 2022 and now he is the key player for England in white-ball cricket. Being an audience in the stands to playing as an opener for England this journey is speechless and every person’s dream to play for their country everyone dream is not successful. Phil Salt played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) this season and had a great season though he couldn’t play the final as he had turned back to England for World Cup preparation.
