ICC T20 World Cup 2024: “Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man” – Wasim Jaffer Hails Virat Kohli For Stepping Up In The Final After India’s T20 World Cup Win

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 India won the T20 World Cup after 17 years and they won an ICC trophy after 11 years it was like a dream when Rohit Sharma lifted the trophy as if is it happening in real it felt.

India pulled off a heist while defending 177 runs against South Africa, India was out of the match after Axar’s 24-run over but Rohit Sharma knew how to pull off a heist and he did it.

Wasim Jaffer lauds Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli’s bat was very silent and wasn’t able to roar but skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid backed him and knew that Virat Kohli would shine in the final and so it was when India was in trouble after losing 3 wickets Virat Kohli stood up and played a crucial knock which will be remembered by everyone he registered a must needed partnership with Axar Patel and so India could finish on 176 in first innings. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs and gave chance to everyone a smile on their face and it was an important inning from India’s point of view. Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer lauds Virat Kohli for his efficient knock while praising Wasim Jaffer said:

“Virat Kohli hadn’t scored many runs in the tournament, but he chose the right moment to come good. Cometh the hour, cometh the man as we say, his knock of 76 made a lot of difference and kept one end intact.”

Further, Wasim Jaffer also praised Axar Patel for his valiant support of Virat Kohli and he scored an explosive 47 runs. He said:

“The most important part I thought was played by Axar Patel. The cameo that he played ensured that the run rate from India never dropped below eight runs per over. He took the attack to the South African bowlers and didn’t let them settle, forming a crucial partnership with Kohli,” he said.

As Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from T20IS. They chose a perfect day to announce their retirements, they said that now it was time to give a chance to a new generation and so they passed the baton to them. Wasim Jaffer also praised about their retirements:

“Two giants of the game (Rohit and Kohli) have retired from T20Is and this will certainly form a big gap. However, they rightly chose to go out on a high after winning the trophy and we should bow down to the true greats of the game. We will continue to see them in IPL, ODIs, and Tests.”
