There has been a lot of buzz around Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma and have we seen the last of the duo in the shortest format. Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma haven’t played any T20I match since T20 WC 2022 as the selectors have shown faith in the leadership of Hardik Pandya and we can see Suryakumar Yadav leading the side against Australia in the 5 T20I series.

Rohit Sharma though has made it clear that there are no plans of him to retire from the T20I format. It would be interesting to see what stance the chief selector Ajit Agarkar takes as T20 WC 2024 is quite important for Indian cricket who hasn’t won a T20 tournament since the inception of IPL which happened way back in 2008.

Virat Kohli though somewhat age on his side and most importantly, he is quite fit which most likely makes him an automatic choice for the marquee T20  WC 2024. There have been talks going on that KL Rahul is another candidate for leading the side as there is chaos as which player will lead the side.

The way Rohit Sharma is batting, any selector will be tempted- Ashish Nehra

Ashish Nehra was having an interaction with Jio Cinema. Ashish Nehra pointed out that Rohit Sharma is in purple patch and ignoring him would be quite tough for any selector. Ashish Nehra was quite sure that Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma won’t retire from the format and would continue to play as long as they are scoring runs and having fun.

“Virat Kohli is scoring 800 runs, 1000 runs in a calendar year. The way Rohit Sharma is batting, any selector will be tempted. Although they might have a discussion about whether or not Kohli and Rohit want to play the format ‘okay I might not play, I might rest,” said Ashish Nehra.

“Unless they announce their retirement from the format in some time, I hope that’s not the case. Both Rohit and Virat are good enough to play any format as long as they are scoring runs and having fun,” he added.
