When the Indian team became the world champion in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, then a 10 year old child in Mumbai also had the dream of winning this trophy, which was completed by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2011, in the same year another 12-year-old child named Shubhman Gill  harbored the dream of lifting this World Cup trophy in his heart and today he is a part of the Indian team playing the World Cup. Shubman Gill recalled memories of the 2011 World Cup while talking to Star Sports.

This is Shubman Gill’s first World Cup, considering his current form and stability, Indian fans have a lot of expectations from him. He has become the batsman to score the most centuries in the ODI format this year after scoring a century against Bangladesh in the recently held Asia Cup. Not only his fans but he himself has a lot of expectations from Shubhman Gill.

Shubhman Gill is the second best batsman in the ODI rankings after Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Everyone’s eyes will be on Shubman Gill in the ODI series against Australia and Gill will also make the most of this opportunity. Will take advantage.

Shubman Gill was having an interaction with Star Sports. Shubman Gill wants to lift the ODI WC 2023 as this is his dream. Shubman wasn’t being able to believe his journey and he termed it as a fairytale. Shubman made it clear that he wants to give maximum effort in the tournament.

“When India won the World Cup in 2011, I was just 10-12 years old and it was an unreal scenario. That was the time when I felt that I too wanted to lift that trophy at least once in my lifetime. Representing India in the World Cup is always a dream for any child and it was my dream as well growing up,”

“The journey so far has been nothing short of a dream, a fairytale. As you keep on doing better, your expectations from yourself keep on increasing and I want to give my maximum effort at any stage in the tournament wherever I get the opportunity,” he added.
