England’s cricket team is in disarray; losing the match by 100 runs while chasing 230 runs states that there are some sort of problems in the changing room. Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers against India as the veteran pacer took 2 wickets and was spot-on with his line & length. Chris Woakes got two key wickets of Shubman Gill & Shreyas Iyer and bowled pinpoint deliveries.

England’s main problem throughout the tournament has been that their batters especially the likes of Joe Root & Jonny Bairstow haven’t been able to set the tone for the rest of the batters. Even, Sir Geoffrey Boycott stated that “Bazball” has ruined England’s ODI game plan which is quite a big statement and is somewhat true as well.

I can firmly say that there is nothing wrong with the dressing room- Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes was having an interaction with BBC Test Match Special. Earlier, World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan had stated that there are some problems in England’s team. Chris Woakes made it clear that the team has got no rifts between them and all are together and stated that they are still trying to figure out that why they performed poorly in the tournament.

“I can firmly say that there is nothing wrong with the dressing room. We’re all still together. When you are on a tour of India, you spend a lot of time together and this group is certainly behind each other. That is the case. It’s hard to put your finger on it, if we knew what the answer was, we’d be doing it and we’d be playing a lot better than we are,” said Chris Woakes.

Questions aplenty for Jos Buttler & ECB

England skipper Jos Buttler has hinted that he would resign from the captaincy after the completion of the tournament. If that happens, then it would be a huge blow for the side as ECB doesn’t have many choices as there is uncertainty regarding the participation of Ben Stokes further in the ODI circuit and Joe Root’s future is also quite uncertain with leading the side.

It looks unlikely that Moeen Ali would be named the skipper who is also at the back end of the career. It won’t be wrong to say that we might witness a complete new Britain side in the next ODI WC 2027 as the players are now slowly choosing franchise league over nation.
