India’s dynamic batter Virat Kohli will have to guide the youngsters in the upcoming marquee ODI WC 2023 as the middle order is quite fragile. Virat Kohli has been in sublime form ever since his comeback ton in Asia Cup 2022 as the batter has lo0ked untroubled against any opponent.

Virat Kohli will have to work on his game, especially against the left-arm fast bowlers, and needs to perform in knockout matches. The right-handed batter has an awful record in crunch matches as his wicket completely puts the opponent in the driver’s seat.

India’s issue is top 3 isn’t performing- Rashid Latif

Rashid Latif was seen speaking on his YouTube channel and made some bold statements on Virat Kohli, BCCI & management. Rashid Latif pointed out that India have a pretty good balanced side but said that the side is too much dependent on the top 3 batters, i.e. top order.

“Virat Kohli had a direction and he wanted to win, but he was sacked. The team couldn’t perform due to internal issues. They couldn’t perform in ICC tournaments because, maybe, the captain didn’t get the desired players. Or maybe he got, but they weren’t used. Now, there are two big events — Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the World Cup at home. Their team is still pretty good, they will get a no.4,” said Rashid Latif.

“The problem begins when the top-3 get dismissed quickly. If the top-3 play out the 25-30 overs, they will win easily. Their issue is the top-3 isn’t performing how it used to. They could’ve brought back Shikhar Dhawan, you had made him captain less than a year ago during a tour. You had players, you threw them here and there,” he added.

Great chance for India

Skipper Rohit Sharma would be tested in ODI WC 2023 as there are questions raised over his tactics after a dreadful T20 WC 2022 where the Men in Blue suffered a crushing defeat against mighty England. Rohit Sharma perhaps needs to be attacking in the middle overs phase which is quite pivotal.

The management has a conundrum as to whether to back the out of form Suryakumar Yadav or give a chance to the wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson. We witnessed how Suryakumar Yadav struggled in the ODI Series against Australia which India lost by 1-2.
