Virat Kohli, the scintillating right-handed batter is in the form of his life. We witnessed how Virat Kohli smashed a ton against Bangladesh in the ODI WC 2023. The batter looked in complete control of the knock and paced the innings smartly. India’s run machine is peaking at the perfect time ahead of the high-voltage matches in the tournament.

Head coach Rahul Dravid would be ecstatic as the two senior batters Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma are decimating the opposition with their brisk strokeplay; due to which there is no added responsibility on the rest of the batting unit. All eyes though would be on Shreyas Iyer who isn’t performing according to his credentials which is a concern for the side.

Youngsters can learn passion from Virat Kohli- Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram was having an interaction with Sportskeeda and was quite stunned when Virat Kohli smashed 48th ODI ton and said that he never thought that Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 ODI tons would be broken or be so close by a batter. Wasim Akram said that during his playing days 15-16 ODI tons were a lot in the career.

“They say records are meant to be broken. I never thought anyone would break Sachin’s record, but I was wrong. It’s a matter of 1-2 hundreds. He’s on 48, Tendulkar had 49. It’s very easy to say 48, but when you think of it, 48 ODI hundreds in one format, that’s unbelievable,” said Wasim Akram.

“During our time, 15-16 centuries were a lot in an entire career. Now, we are talking about 50 hundreds – amazing. He seems from a different planet. He’s averaging about 63-65 chasing. Not just in one or two games, but over hundred games. Youngsters can learn about passion from him. He is not satisfied with his performance,” he stated.

“He may have enjoyed his hundred on the night of the match. Today, for him, that’s history. He will be thinking what to do now. That is what Virat Kohli does beautifully,” he added.
