Team India heads into another high-stakes cricket World Cup, with stakes being even higher as they are also playing hosts to the mega event. Virat Kohli is one of the only members of India’s World Cup winning from 2011, who is still active in the international arena and is expected to perform if India has to go ahead in the tournament. Virat Kohli has peaked at the right time and is heading into his fourth World Cup on the back of a sublime batting performance this year

Virat Kohli has so far scored 556 runs in 15 matches at an average of 55.60 which includes 3 centuries this year. Virat is also a player of big occasions which is revealed by his stats in the World Cup that stands at 1030 runs at an average of 46.81 in 26 matches. India has not won an ICC trophy since 2013, and Virat Kohli would be eager to break his country’s knockout curse in showpiece events.

India’s batting order is reliant on Kohli, as the middle order has been unstable due to injuries to the regulars and most importantly, the batters lack the fighting spirit. It would be interesting to see how the two batters KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer fare in ODI WC 2023 as the duo will have to play smartly in testing conditions.

You don’t want to play against Virat Kohli on the big stage because he loves the big stage – Eoin Morgan

Former England captain Eoin Morgan was speaking to one of the media and gave his two cents on Virat Kohli’s capabilities going into the World Cup. Morgan called Virat Kohli an asset to the team, as he brings energy, aggression, and experience to the team. India’s batting order is reliant on Kohli, as the middle order has been unstable due to injuries to the regulars.

“He is a truly remarkable player whom I have admired for a long time, not just because of the volume of runs he has scored but also how he has carried himself both on and off the field” said Eoin Morgan.

“You don’t want to play against him on the big stage because he loves the big stage. He harnesses all the energy and hype around big games and uses it to his advantage” he added.

“Dealing with the pressure back then, they did really well under the leadership of MS Dhoni and I believe the brilliant leadership that both Rohit and Dravid have, if they manage it, they can be contenders” Morgan added.
