Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar feels that making it to the World Cup squad is quite tough for the young generation as there is cut throat competition. Sanjay Bangar gave the example of VVS Laxman who missed the cut for 2003 ODI WC.

The side under the regime of Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma looks a threatening one as India have got a threatening bowling attack. The management will have to stick to one combination and perhaps rotate one of Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja as it is  assumed that Kuldeep Yadav would be the frontline spinner.

Kuldeep Yadav pipped the sly spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the marquee ODI WC 2023. If Kuldeep Yadav can add some runs to the team’s combination then it can do wonders for the team. Kuldeep Yadav can be used in 4-5 spells as his variations are quite hard to pick.

The team has done their preparation with a combination- Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was quite impressed with the way the team has gelled so far. Sanjay Bangar heaped praise on Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj and said that these two players have got that quality.

“The team has done their preparation with a combination and a plan for the last two years. So you need to stick with those plans. Yes, there is a wishlist that you have a fast bowler like that, but will that fast bowler be able to compete with Siraj or Shami, because these two players have that quality?” said Sanjay Bangar.

“Unfortunately, many good players miss out on the World Cup. I remember VVS Laxman was in good form in 2003 but he didn’t get a place because of the team combination,” he added.
