Australian cricket team would be shell-shocked with their team’s performance in the first 2 matches against India & South Africa. Mark Taylor believes that there has been a lack of clarity amongst the management and selection panel for the marquee showpiece. Mark Taylor pointed out that not a single batter has scored a significant score for the side.

Australia will have to be smart with their selection as playing Josh Inglis in place of Alex Carey was highly questionable. Australia’s next match is against Sri Lanka on 16th October at Lucknow and according to sources with knowledge, it is assumed that the surface would be a competitive one.

Pat Cummins & chief selector George Bailey need to have some serious talks with players as a coupe of more defeats in the tournament can put the tournament in the jeopardy for the side who were termed as the red hot favorites for the championship by a lot of experts.

Australia are no closer to solving their team combination problems- Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor was having an interaction with Nine’s Coverage and pointed out that Australia haven’t been able to score 200 runs in the first 2 matches of ODI WC 2023. Mark Taylor stated that the management & skipper aren’t sure of whether to bat first or bowl first in the tournament.

“They didn’t have to win tonight but the problem is they’ve been bowled out now in two games for 199 and 177, they haven’t even made 200 yet this series. No one’s made more than a 40-odd for Australia. We’re not sure whether we want to bat first or bowl first in this series, and we’re not sure what our team is. So there’s a lot of questions to be answered there,” said Mark Taylor.

“That’s the concern, it’s a concern probably leading into this World Cup and now after two games Australia are no closer to solving those problems and now they have three or four days to solve them,” he stated.

“Australia will have to work out what their best team is, to find some energy, hang on to their catches and someone’s got to make a big score, so they’ve got some work to do in the next three or four days,” he added.
