Indian cricket team would be roaring to dictate the terms in the ODI WC 2023. Virat Kohli will have to make sure that he not only stays till the end of the innings but plays an impactful knock for the team, especially in a do-or-die match if the side wants to end the drought of ICC trophies. Virat Kohli‘s experience would be invaluable as he will have to guide the likes of the rising batters KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer.

Head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma will be pumped up after the return of the speedster Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj & Jasprit Bumrah can give nightmares to the opponent as the pacers have good control over their line & length. At the same time, if Hardik Pandya can bowl 10 overs or play the role of 6th bowler then it can do wonders for the team.

No one wants to win World Cups more than players- Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was seen attending a promotional event and said that no one wants to win the World Cup more than players. Virat Kohli made it clear that he knows that there are expectations from him. Virat Kohli stated that he still likes the encounters/ contests and the marquee ODI WC 2023 is one challenge for him

“The pressure is always there. The fans always say we want (the team) to win a cup very badly. I’d like to say not more than me. So, I’m in the right place. Honestly, I know the expectations are there and the emotions of the people are there. But please know that no one wants to win more than players,” said Virat Kohli.

“Any challenge in front of you, you look forward to it. When difficulty comes in front of you get excited. You don’t shy away from it. After 15 years I still like encounters, and the World Cup 2023 is one (challenge). It excites me, I need something new to, you know, propel me to another level,” he added.

Fascinating ODI WC 2023 on cards

India became the first team to win the World Cup on their home soil way back in 2011 under the leadership of the legendary skipper MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma will have a strenuous task on his hands as all the teams are evenly matched and at the same time, we can expect a lot of upsets as well. India’s top order will have to negate the threat of the left-arm pacers as the likes of Pakistan, Australia & New Zealand have got quality left-arm fast bowlers.

Virat Kohli was quite new to the International arena during the 2011 ODI WC. Virat had amassed 282 runs in 9 matches with an average of 35.25 and played a key knock in the final of the tournament against Sri Lanka. Virat over the years has become an inseparable part of the team as the batter has played stupendous knocks ever since making his national debut.
