India’s rising batter Shubman Gill is in sensational form and his attacking gameplan has surprised the opposition as the batter has got a wide range of shots. Shubman Gill along with Rohit Sharma will have to lay the foundation for the middle-order batters.
Head coach Rahul Dravid would be hoping that Shubman Gill uses his feet against fast bowlers which can disturb the dynamics of the team and bowler. It won’t be wrong to say that Shubman has got similar traits to the legendary batter Virender Sehwag.

Former South African batter AB de Villiers was seen speaking on his YouTube channel. AB de Villiers was quite optimistic that Shubman Gill would be the leading run-scorer of the marquee ODI WC 2023.
“Shubman Gill will be the highest run-scorer in the World Cup. He is in great form. I was always going to go with an opening batter—at the very worst, a No. 3 batter. I think Shubman is in such form that it would be silly of me to overlook him. He is a great player and has a fantastic technique. He is playing at home in India, yes, there will be pressure but he is my pick.” said AB de Villiers.

AB de Villers was quite impressed with Shubman’s batting technique. AB pointed out that Shubman has the knack of changing gears and can exert pressure on the team. AB stated that Shubman looks quite an experienced campaigner despite being being a 24 year old batter.
“Shubman Gill’s style and technique are quite simple and basic, as you would generally say for some of the best players of the world. You get some exceptions, like Steve Smith. Shubman Gill is much more traditional, very straightforward technique, and doesn’t try a lot of different things. He can change the gears and put a lot of pressure on the bowlers,” said AB de Villiers.
“He has got this incredible ability of picking up the length very quickly; you see that with some of the best players in the world. Shubman is very quickly becoming one of those, one of the best players in all the formats. Very exciting young talent. He is still young but looks like an experienced campaigner already,” he added.
