This time it was the magic of the two lethal batters Shreyas Iyer & KL Rahul that left the opponent in shock as all the tactics were proving to be ineffective. KL Rahul was looking ominous and whacked the bowlers all around the park.
KL Rahul now has made a strong case for himself in the knock-out stages as his rise has meant that there the lower middle order batters: Suryakumar Yadav can go berserk from the word go and play a breezy knock for the team. Suryakumar Yadav too has rediscovered his mojo and is looking threatening than ever.
New Zealand would be eyeing their 3rd consecutive ICC ODI WC final as earlier Australia (*in 2015 final*) & England (*in 2019 final*) had outclassed them in a nail bitter. All in all, New Zealand would be happy to spoil the party of a billion people once again just 2019 ODI WC Semi Final.
Shreyas Iyer & KL Rahul have been wonderful to watch- Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with Star Sports. Sunil Gavaskar was quite impressed with the way KL Rahul batted against the Netherlands in the last league match of India & tournament. Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that Shreyas & KL Rahul take the pressure off Virat & Rohit.
“For Rahul to get to that century with that shot, it was an incredible shot. We have seen him do that in the IPL. For him to bring it out in a World Cup to get to a hundred was just fantastic to watch. This is what KL Rahul is all about. This is the KL Rahul we know and now we are finally getting to see that Rahul which we have been sort of dying to see for such a long time.” said Sunil Gavaskar.
“We heard (KL) Rahul talk about how everything is clear, everything is being laid out for them by the coach, captain, and support staff, and they are executing it and that’s the difficult part. Whatever you might plan, this game of cricket has got surprises for you,” he stated.
“So clearly what’s been happening with this No. 4 and No. 5, getting centuries when the top three have also got half-centuries, just tells you how well they have batted. Both have batted quite superbly. Shreyas and Rahul – wonderful, wonderful to watch, and a good omen going into the semi-finals,” he added
