The quality of cricket in India has changed- Shahid Afridi

In his recent interview with a local show, Shahid Afridi expressed that India is now producing the best fast bowlers, and Shahid Afridi also gave the reason behind the rise.

“India has a huge population—nearly 1.4 billion—and the quality of cricket has changed over the years. Back then, we used to say that they were producing great batsmen while Pakistan was creating amazing bowlers, but that is not the case as we are generating both bowlers and batters. However, Indian bowlers have now started eating meat, so they have gained strength.”

India’s surge in fast bowling

India has a cluster of stunning fast bowlers at both the international and domestic levels. There are plenty of quality bowlers in India. At the international level, players like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed  Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are dominating the batters; on the other hand, young bowlers like Prasidh Krishna, Umran Malik, and Mukesh Kumar are doing a nice job.

In domestic cricket, India has bowlers who are capable of producing performances at a higher level. Every year in the IPL, exceptional young fast bowlers come and impress everybody with their performances.

Right from the 2018 South Africa Test Series, India’s bowling has been on top of its game in all forms of the game. Their fast-bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, M. Shami, and M. Siraj is one of the best in international bowling; all the bowlers have tested all the strong batting lineups in the world.
