Shaheen Afridi is considered to be the next big thing in World Cricket. The left-arm pacer not only has got express pace but can rattle the opposition with his impeccable lines & lengths. Shaheen Afridi though will have to keep himself fit ahead of the grueling Asia Cup 2023 & ODI WC 2023 who is quite injury prone.

Indian batters will have to find a way to tackle the threat of Shaheen Afridi as the peculiarity of the pacer is that he bowls to a particular gameplan which makes him a dangerous pacer. Skipper Babar Azam would be considering using Shaheen in 3-4 short & effective spells as the pacer is often termed to be the bowler with a golden arm.

Shaheen Afridi is not unplayable- Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly pointed out that the batters will have to find a way to tackle the quality bowlers in the ODI WC 2023.

“Shaheen Afridi is a very good bowler but that doesn’t mean you can’t play him. At this level in international cricket you will get two such bowlers in every team. Afridi and Naseem Shah for Pakistan, [Mitchell] Starc, [Pat] Cummins and [Josh] Hazlewood for Australia, New Zealand has a couple. But India have the batsmen to play them,” said Sourav Ganguly.

I keep saying don’t chop & change ahead of a major tournament- Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly pointed out that frequent changes in the combination of the team won’t keep the side in good stead. Sourav Ganguly gave the example of the invincible Australian side and said that they didn’t chop and change for years between 1999-2003 and pointed out why they were so good

“We were a very good team (*2003 ODI WC ) by then and had started winning. We were on song. We had some fantastic players. That’s why I keep saying don’t chop and change ahead of a major tournament,” said Sourav Ganguly.

“Have a set of players together for one year and let them win or lose and get ready as a team. Australia did not chop and change for years between 1999-2003 and that’s why they were so good,” he added.
