Rohit Sharma‘s brigadier would be tested against Australia on 8th October at Chennai. Rohit Sharma‘s captaincy has come under the scrutiny as his defensive tactics haven’t done the team any good. India will have to bring their ‘A’ game if they want to outclass the mighty Aussies.

All eyes will be on the star duo of Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma who once again will have to do the bulk of scoring in the high-voltage clash. There is uncertainty regarding the participation of Shubman Gill as the batter has an illness and in his absence, most likely Ishan Kishan would open the batting for the team.

Australia would be banking on Mitchell Marsh to provide the team with a rollicking start in the absence of Travis Head. Travis Head is expected to miss the half of the tournament due to his fractured hand. Actually, it could be a blessing in disguise for Australia as the duo of Mitchell & Warner can set the stage on fire.

Rohit Sharma does panic at times during captaincy- Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar was having an interaction with Revsportz. Shoaib Akhtar pointed out that Rohit Sharma isn’t made for captaincy and stated that Rohit doesn’t react well in critical situations. Shoaib Akhtar compared the captaincy style of Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma and blamed the Indian media for creating an environment in which India can’t afford to lose.

“Rohit Sharma is a great guy. However, he does panic at times during captaincy. I may sound a bit harsh here, but I don’t think he should have taken up India’s captaincy. He is even more talented than Virat Kohli. He is a classical batter,” said Shoaib Akhtar.

“But was he made for captaincy? Does he react well in critical situations? These are the questions that keep coming to my mind. You should also be questioning it. But there’s no doubt that he has the ability to win this World Cup. He has a home advantage and a good team,” he stated.

“Virat Kohli used to be overly aggressive, while Rohit Sharma panics a lot. I would blame the Indian media for this. An environment is built in which India just cannot afford to lose at any cost. Why can’t they lose?,” he added.
