The Indian cricket team has been on a roll in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, as they have gone on to remain unbeaten in the tournament winning all of their 5 matches so far. Cricket experts are rooting for India to go all the way and reclaim the trophy that has long eluded them. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is the more recent entrant to the club of former players who have predicted the hosts to go on and clinch the title. MS Dhoni believes that India has got everything to end the title drought of 12 years.

MS Dhoni has distanced himself from world cricket since his retirement, only resurfacing during the IPL season every year. The former cricketer, who is not active on social media is rarely seen making statements about the game or the Indian team. Dhoni’s media appearances had become considerably less ever since he stepped down from captaincy way back in 2017.

MS Dhoni was speaking as a part of an event in Bengaluru, and surprised one and all when he spoke about a variety of topics. The two-timer winner was asked a familiar question about India’s chances in the World Cup, who sounded optimistic. Dhoni, who by all means possesses a deeper understanding of the game gave out a cryptic message about India’s chances.

It’s a very good team – MS Dhoni

“The team’s balance is extremely good. All the players are playing well. So everything is looking very good” said MS Dhoni.

The former Indian captain stayed true to his nature by not saying too much and maintaining a sense of mystery. MS Dhoni had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020, and last featured in the team India setup during the T20I World Cup in 2021 where he was appointed as a mentor of the team. However, Virat Kohli-led side crashed out of the tournament in the league stage after losing to Pakistan and New Zealand in the opening matches. Following this, MS Dhoni chose to maintain distance from the national team.

I won’t say anything more than this. For the wise, the signal is enough – MS Dhoni

Team India are inching closer to a spot in the semi-finals with 10 points, and would be looking forward to extend their winning streak to 6 matches when they face England in Lucknow on Sunday.
