It was a terrible India vs New Zealand ODI WC 2019 semi-final match for a billion people. The Kiwi’s bowling unit once again spoiled the party of India. MS Dhoni & Ravindra Jadeja tried to put the run chase back on track after the early collapse but the required run rate went on increasing and the surface all of a sudden became sluggish.

MS Dhoni stood tall from one end but the conditions were quite tough. We all remember the run out of MS Dhoni in 2019 ODI WC Semi Final but the recent victory of team India against New Zealand was quite sweet as the revenge was taken by Rohit Sharma’s brigade.

MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the International cricket in 2020 August and till that there were chances that he would play in T20 WC. The dynamic wicket-keeper batter though has not hinted anything on his participation in IPL 2024 as there are chances that he would bid adieu to the game as he doesn’t have age on his side.

It was the last game I played for India- MS Dhoni

Legendary skipper MS Dhoni was seen at an event in Bengaluru and stated that he didn’t want to represent India after the 2019 ODI WC semi-final defeat against New Zealand, the day India lost the match. MS Dhoni didn’t want to announce immediately that he would bid adieu to the game after the heart-wrenching defeat.

“It’s difficult to control emotions when you lose close games. I keep my plans ready for every game and for me, it was the last game I played for India. I made the announcement a year later but that day, I retired,” said MS Dhoni.

“We were given some gadgets from the trainer and every time I went to him, I handed those gadgets back but he was like, ‘No, no… just keep it.” And I thought, how should I tell him that it wasn’t needed anymore, because I didn’t want to announce then,”  he stated.

“When you are high on emotions and the only thing you have done in the last 12-15 years is playing cricket, and then there’s no more chance of representing your country. It’s a thing with sportspersons. So, once I quit cricket, there was no way I could be representing my country again and bring that glory back. So, you are high on emotions that time,” he added.
