Indian cricket team would be pumped up after winning the match by 100 runs against England too when they had only 229 runs to defend. Mohammed Shami was the destroyer-in-chief who took a 4 wicket haul. It seemed as if Mohammed Shami had done homework for English batters as the pacer had a plan for every batter.

Mohammed Shami now has given happy headaches to the management after taking 9 wickets in the last 2 matches. It looks unlikely that the all-rounder Shardul Thakur would come back into the playing 11 straightaway against Sri Lanka on 2nd November as Shami is proving to be a match winner.

Head coach Rahul Dravid & skipper Rohit Sharma would be considering resting one of Bumrah or Siraj as the duo have not only played back to back matches but would be exhausted. India now would be aiming for the table-top finish as the side has won 6 matches out of 6 and is looking unstoppable.

Mohammed Shami is looking at his cricketing fitness- Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with India Today and was quite impressed with the way Mohammed Shami performed against England. Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that Mohammed Shami has prioritized fitness which has improved his bowling. Sunil Gavaskar stated that Mohammed Shami looks quite eager to take wickets and compared him with Cheetah.

“There is a lot of hard work there. When he goes back home, he has got several pitches made apparently, and he just bowls and bowls over there. That is what is important. He is looking at his cricketing fitness,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

“What is his specialty? It’s fast bowling. By bowling several overs in the nets where he stays. I don’t know whether he is a gym person. You can go doing the gym all day. But at the end of the day… Mohammed Shami is doing exactly what Kapil Dev used to do, just bowl and bowl in the nets,” he stated.

“Mohammed Shami is not listening to all your bio-mechanic experts who might say ‘Oh no, no bowl only 15-20 deliveries in the nets. He knows that as a fast bowler, he needs a lot more mileage in his legs as he runs in to bowl. He is showing it,” he added.

“And the rhythm, it gets so good. When he is running into a bowl, and when the drone camera captures it, he looks like a cheetah or a leopard going for the kill. It’s a fantastic sight,” he concluded.
