Indian cricket team would be keen to end the drought of the ICC tournament as the Men in Blue haven’t won the ICC trophy since the glorious 2013 Champions Trophy.  Michael Vaughan believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side have got everything in them to be victorious. Michael Vaughan was quite sure shot that England & India would be a team to beat in the knock-out stages.

England will have a steep task ahead of them as defending the title would be quite tough as the conditions would be quite tough for the batter as the pitches come under the scrutiny of ICC. Skipper Jos Buttler would be tested as England’s attacking brand of gameplan can backfire.

Any team who beat India in the Semi Final will win the World Cup- Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan wrote in his column for the Telegraph. Michael Vaughan pointed out that England & India would be the team to beat in the marquee tournament. Vaughan stated that India would badly miss the services of Rishabh Pant and said that the side doesn’t have quality left-handed batters. Michael Vaughan said that India is the hot favorite to win the championship and said that the home team has had a huge advantage in winning the tourney since the 2011 edition.

“England and India are the two teams nobody else wants to face in a semi-final. India have everything required to win a World Cup but I would be concerned about the lack of left-handers. They only really have Ravindra Jadeja in that first seven. There is no Rishabh Pant, who is a free spirit, which is a big blow. But the seamers are world class and the spinners, too.”

“With India it is always can they cope with the pressure? Just look at the last three World Cups. India won on home soil in 2011, Australia did the same in 2015 and England in 2019. It has been a common trend the home team has gone on to win the World Cup so everyone expects India to do so. I don’t think they will disappoint. Any team who beat India in a semi-final will win the World Cup.”
