Bangladeshi fans would be hoping that the star left-handed batter Tamim Iqbal is fit & available for selection for the ODI WC 2023. Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 with a back injury. Tamim Iqbal has been an integral part of the side ever since the 2007 ODI WC and we all witnessed how he dictated the terms against India in the ODI WC 2007.

With the dashing cricketer Shakib-al-Hasan all set to lead the side, we can expect attacking tactics. It won’t be wrong to say that Bangladesh’s strength is spin and can spurn a web with its foxy variations as the likes of Shakib & Mehidy will be quite lethal in Indian conditions for ODI WC 2023.

I think from 7th September, I can take part in a full net session- Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal was having an interaction on the platform “Not Out Noman.” Tamim Iqbal was quite optimistic that he would participate in the high voltage ODI WC 2023 and stated that there had been no sign of major back pain since taking the injection. Tamim pointed out that he can take part in a full net session from 7th September and emphasized having a proper 10 days of net session.

“It’s going good (as far as rehabilitation is concerned). I think the way my plan is set, we are right on track. I am quite happy with the outcome till now and I haven’t complained about the back pain yet and there is no sign of major pain since taking the injection. There is stiffness for one or two days. Till now I am very happy,” said Tamim Iqbal.

“I think from 7th (September), I can take part in a full net session and there will be no restrictions like I cannot do this or that, like you have seen I was facing only throw downs on the opening two days and from now onwards, I can use a stick for throw downs,” he stated.

“It’s important (the five matches before the World Cup – three ODIs against New Zealand and two practice games) but for me what is important is to have proper 10 days of net sessions, this is what I feel. Because I have played for so long, I don’t think a match could be a big problem for me. Normally if I can do 10 net sessions properly before the first game, I should be ok,” he added.

Massive chance for Bangladesh

The Bangladeshi Tigers were quite close to making it to the semi-final in the 2019 WC edition. We all know that BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) has appointed Shakib-al-Hasan as the skipper which makes the unit more threatening as captaincy not only brings out the best of Shakib but also the entire team as he is a bowler’s captain as the skipper constantly interacts with the bowlers.

All eyes will be on Litton Das as the dashing batter will have to bat responsibly in the absence of Tamim Iqbal who is ruled out of Asia Cup 2023. Litton has the knack of playing a fearless brand of cricket and can make the most of the powerplay overs with his brisk strokeplay. The likes of Shakib & Rahim perhaps need to bat up the order and take responsibility in the middle overs rather than batting at No.5 or lower down the order.
