Pakistan cricket team is in a precarious position after losing 3 matches out of 5. Hasan Ali, the right-arm speedster hasn’t been able to provide crucial breakthroughs to the team. There were a lot of hopes for Hasan Ali as in the absence of injured Naseem Shah, he was expected to lead the bowling attack.
The Men in Green suffered an embarrassing defeat against Afghanistan which has raised a lot of questions about the team’s dynamics. Babar Azam’s form has been a concern where the batter has looked in two minds whether to attack or defend which has got him into the shell. It will require a helluva of effort from Pakistan to reach the finals as their fate isn’t in their hands.
The selections were based on friendships and personal relationships- Danish Kaneria take on Hasan Ali’s place in team
Danish Kaneria was having an interaction with Aaj Tak. Danish Kaneria stated that the PCB’s selection was totally and said that conditions in India will favor batting & spin and despite knowing that there wasn’t quality spinners and pointed out that why Imad Wasim wasn’t a part of the setup given his encouraging track record. Danish Kaneria also said that Hasan Ali was in the team due to the friendship with Babar Azam.
“When the squad was announced, I was sure that this wasn’t a well-balanced team. The selections were based on friendships and personal relationships. I knew that this team would struggle in the World Cup. They talk about everything but strategy. They needed to understand that the conditions in India will favour batting and spin. The selection was totally wrong,” said Danish Kaneria.
“In Naseem Shah’s absence, Pakistan are giving the new ball to Hasan Ali. Hasan Ali is only in the team because of friendship. Usama Mir plays for Multan Sultans, and Mushtaq Ahmed has good relations with Inzamam-ul-Haq. When a team is made for people’s individual benefits and not for the country, you will only get such results,” he stated.
“When have two leg-spinners played together for Pakistan? I was not picked for ODIs because they said Shahid Afridi was already there. When they played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the boundary is very short, Shadab Khan was dropped and Usama Mir was brought in. Also, why they didn’t pick Imad Wasim?,” he added.
