England Cricket Board (ECB) have been dealt with a massive blow as Jofra Archer is injured and there is no official word on his recovery. Gus Atkinson, the pacer has been included in the provisional squad of ODI WC 2023. Gus Atkinson has got some sheer pace and can be a force to reckon with.

Jos Buttler would be hoping that Mark Wood is fit for ODI WC 2023 as now he is one of the premier fast bowlers in the side. Mark Wood not only has got express pace but over the past couple of years has shown good control over his line & length.

The injury to Jofra Archer can open the doors to Sam Curran and David Willey as both the pacers can contribute with the bat as well and play handy knocks for the team. England would be backing Sam Curran to come good who was a part of 2022 T20 WC winning squad as the youngster has got a lot of variations and can fox the batter.

I think there are similarities between Gus Atkinson & Jofra Archer- Michael Atherton

Michael Atherton was having an interaction with Sky Sports and was impressed with the way Gus Atkinson played in the recently concluded Hundred championship. Atherton made a huge comparison and said that Gus Atkinson has similar traits to Jofra Archer.

“He has eye-catching pace. He bowled an unbelievably fast spell against Buttler in The Hundred [for Oval Invincibles against Manchester Originals]. I think his game has gone up a level this year,” said Michael Atherton.

“He feels confident in his body at last having gone through many injuries as a young player and is bowling quicker than before. I think there are similarities with Archer. A beautiful wrist action and in tight to the stumps,” he added.
