On a slow, low field in Guyana, India outscored England by 68 runs, ending England’s T20 World Cup defense and raising doubts about the futures of both captain Jos Buttler and coach Matthew Mott. Initially, it appeared that the Amazon rains would be the biggest obstacle to their progress.

Rohit Sharma’s elegant half-century and an Indian bowling attack that flourished in the circumstances ultimately brought them to an end. England fell from 26 without loss to 103 all out on Saturday, needing an unlikely 172 to set up a final against South Africa in Barbados – as if they were batting on a turner in a Test match in Chennai or Ahmedabad.

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were all over English batsmen bamboozling them with their drift and spin. English batsmen couldn’t handle them at the same time as they both are completely different kinds of spinners.

Dismal Batting Performance By England

Following a crushing 68-run loss to India in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup in Guyana on June 27, The Lions were eliminated from the competition. The reigning champs experienced three losses this season, making it an unpredictable campaign. This was England’s seventh appearance in a T20 World Cup semifinal, meanwhile.

In the 2024 semi-final match, India scored 171/7 and then bowled England out for 103. India put up a solid total, and a stand of 73 runs between Rohit Sharma (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (47) helped them provide the opposition. Chris Jordan asserted a 3/37 score.
In response, left-arm spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav destroyed the British team with three-wicket hauls, preventing them from ever getting going.

England’s batsmen were all over the place while playing Indian Spinners on such wickets. Is it fair to say that England as a group struggle to face quality spin in big occasions? Yes, one can say so after seeing their recent performance against India.
