ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 England defeated Oman and kept their hopes alive for Super8. England restricted Oman to just 47 runs. Oman didn’t bat at all as if they were just playing for formality and to wrap up the innings very quickly.
Toss proved the result
Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua has a very dry pitch so the wicket is very slow rain showered the stadium a day before the pitch got even drier due to that so it was meant to be a low-scoring match and the toss was very important which went with England and so the result was declared their itself.
OMAN collapsed like a pack of cards
Oman had invited to bat first seems like they wanted to wrap up the match very early not a single batter was able to score big runs only Shoaib Khan was the highest runner scoring 11 runs rest no one could reach beyond 10. The pathetic batting performance by Oman was one of the worst batting performances ever witnessed in the T20 World Cup. Oman also registered fourth lowest score and it’s the second lowest score of this year after Uganda’s 39 against West Indies.
England’s bowlers rose to the occasion
England had won the toss and opted to bowl first which turned out to be a great day for bowlers as they knew the situation and importance of net run-rate bowlers took the charge and bowled efficiently well. Adil Rashid was the spot-on player who picked 4 wickets conceding just 11 runs while Mark Wood and Jofra Archer picked 3 wickets each conceding 12 runs one of the best bowling performances ever seen by Englishmen.
England batters wrapped up quickly
After a brilliant performance by the bowler’s batters had nothing much to do just 48 runs needed to finish the match in no time batters took charge and finished the target within 3.1 overs and England improved their net run rate which gave them hope to stay alive for Super 8. Adil Rashid was adjourned as Man of the Match for his brilliant spell of 4/11 which was the impactful innings from England’s point of view.
Oman bowlers failed
Oman had a nightmare in batting and so they were wrapped up for just 47 runs which was nothing and just 48 runs target was nothing but still they managed to pick 2 wickets but it was too late and so they end their campaign with loss and didn’t win a single match.
