ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 England faced Namibia in a must-win encounter which turned out to be a 10 over per side after heavy rain in Antigua since the rain was very heavy everyone had thought that match could be washed out but it was destiny that England want to be a part of Super 8 and it is. England defeated Namibia by 41 runs and secured their spot in Super 8.
Great performance by England’s batters
Namibia had won the toss and opted to bowl first but it didn’t work much as England was on a flying start and being just 10 overs how many runs could be scored so they were in a hurry to score runs. England scored 122 runs in just 10 overs and so they were in the driving seat. Harry Brook finished innings with his solid touch scoring 47 runs in just 20 balls. Jonny Bairstow scored 31 runs.
Decent bowling by Namibia
Despite winning the toss Namibia couldn’t perform well with the bowl as they had limitations because of the DLS method, bowlers can’t bowl 4 overs so rotation of bowlers was unsuccessful, England scored 122 runs onboard. David Wiese bowled an economical spell conceding just 6 runs and picked 1 wicket, and Trumpelmann picked 2 wickets. Despite cut down of overs Namibia bowled well.
Namibia failed to chase
So Namibia had to chase 123 runs but England looked very strong and felt like they wouldn’t achieve Namibia to chase the target. Michael van Lingen had a flying start with his partner Niko Davin but Niko Davin retired then it was more difficult for them to chase the target. David Wiese came for batting but his cameo also didn’t work as it was his last appearance in international cricket and ended happily. So, in the end, Namibia scored just 84 runs in 10 overs, and England won the match.
Great contribution by England bowlers
Triumph bowlers of England rose to the occasion and in a must-win match they showed their class with that they defended 123 runs and won the match. Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan were the only bowlers who picked a wicket but the rest of the bowlers also bowled efficiently well. Harry Brook was adjourned as Man Of the Match.
