Devon Conway, the regular opener for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), would undoubtedly be missed in the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), according to former South African captain AB de Villiers. Devon Conway has got similar traits like the legendary batter Mike Hussey and knows how to play fearless cricket in the middle overs’ phase as well which is priceless in the modern cricket.

AB de Villiers emphasized how the Chennai-based team has shown success with the New Zealand batsman. But because of a thumb injury, Devon Conway will miss at least the first half of the 2024 Indian Premier League. Devon Conway stood out as CSK’s top scorer in the 2023 Indian Premier League, with 672 runs at an average of 51.69 across 15 innings. With 47 runs off 25 balls in the final game vs the Gujarat Titans (GT), he was also named Player of the Match.

I don’t think that’ll be a good idea – AB de Villiers on Devon Conway coming back in the later half of the IPL

AB De Villiers recommended CSK not to include the southpaw in their starting lineup as the competition comes to an end. Speaking on his channel on YouTube, he explained:

“Maybe there is an opportunity for the knockouts for him (Devon Conway) to be ready for that, but missing out on so much cricket, possibly coming in with no form whatsoever. I don’t think that’ll be a good idea to try and get him available for the back end of the IPL,”

“He’s pretty much out of the IPL in my books. A big blow for CSK. He’s been a very consistent performer over the years. He’s been a great find for CSK and also New Zealand,” de Villiers added.

It’s great news to me and so many other cricket lovers- AB de Villiers on Rishabh Pant’s comeback

Captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC), Rishabh Pant, will play in the IPL 2024 after an extended injury layoff. Because to the numerous injuries he sustained in a terrifying car accident in December 2022, he was sidelined. To the joy of supporters, Pant has begun his season-long preparations and is anticipated to play in the IPL in 2024.

AB de Villiers expressed his joy at the keeper-batter’s return by saying:

“That is fantastic news to all cricket lovers out there, not only the Delhi Capitals or Indian supporters, it’s great news to me and so many other cricket lovers around the world because this guy is absolutely magic,”

“When he gets going, it’s a sight to behold and it’s one of the most beautiful things that you can be watching in cricket,” he stated.

In place of Rishabh Pant last year, David Warner led Delhi. That being said, the team had a poor campaign and placed penultimate in the standings.
