Journey till now: Pakistan and Canada

Pakistan is playing like amateurs in this T20 World Cup first they lost to hosts USA in super over and next in the marquee clash against India, Men in Blue snatched the victory while chasing 120 runs. Many areas need to be improved and start preparing from zero. Players are not in form though Naseem Shah bowled well against India just one positive sign won’t portray your performance, batters need to improve their batting and so they should be more alert. Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan need to give a solid start or else they would bid adieu to the tournament. Bowlers also need to be prepared as Canada won’t spare them considering their current form.

Canada has been very consistent in losing their first game against the USA but they gained momentum against Ireland and won the match so they are hungry to win the matches it will be a great game to see in New York. Aaron Johnson would be more dangerous for Pakistan. Both teams have played their last match in New York itself so considering the conditions both will be familiar with the pitch and will plan their strategies accordingly.

Stats:

  • Babar’s dry run at T20 World Cups since the start of the 2022 edition continues. In that time he averages 20.11, with a strike rate of 97.31, having scored 181 runs in nine innings

Match-ups:

Tactics & Matchups: Aaron Johnson has been explosive in the Powerplay, especially against the left-arm pacers. Naseem Shah could hold the key as Pakistan will look to get him out early. In what is expected to be a low-scoring encounter, the duration of Johnson’s stay in the middle could prove decisive.

Probable XI: Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imad Wasim/Azam Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Amir
