Pat Cummins offers an old-fashioned way of Test match captaincy- Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting said that Pat Cummins is quite new to the role of leadership and said that the skipper is learning day by day. Ricky Ponting made it clear that Pat Cummins has done a good job in Ashes 2023 with Aussies leading the series by 2-1.

“He (Cummins) offers an old-fashioned way of Test match captaincy, sets the fielding and lets plans go until success, and is happy to do more often. See, Cummins is still pretty young in his role of leadership; don’t forget he’s only been doing it for a couple of years now, and I’m sure he’s learning day by day,” said Ricky Ponting.

“I’m not marking questions for Pat at all. The fact that Australia is leading the game 2-1 says he’s done a good job for me. In the end, I think we have to wait to see the result of the ongoing clash, and then we’ll be discussing the captains. There’ll always be small happenings in a game. When you lose, there are always little things that people are happy to throw words at,” he added.
