Bangladesh’s rising left handed batter Najmul Shanto silenced all the critics and played a breath taking knock against Afghanistan in a do or die match. Najmul Shanto had come into bat when the side had lost an early key wicket but that didn’t stop him from playing his natural game.

Bangladesh looked a complete different unit as earlier there were questions raised over the team’s dynamics after the team’s poor performance against Sri Lanka in the opening match. Skipper Shakib-al-Hasan rotated his bowlers smartly and was quite attacking in his tactics.

Najmul Shanto’s thought process was exceptional- Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was quite impressed with the way Najmul Shanto batted against the challenging Afghanistan cricket team. Sanjay Bangar pointed out that Najmul Shanto had a wide range of shorts and said that he can play for a long duration of time for Bangladesh.

“He will play for Bangladesh for a long time if he maintains his fitness because he played with an extremely clear pattern. His thought process was exceptional and he had the desire to play shots. We always say that you need to be aggressive and look to hit the ball as then only your feet move properly,” said Sanjay Bangar.

We saw that in his innings right from the start and the pace he maintained throughout the innings, because Mehidy Hasan batted a little slowly, but when Shanto was batting with him, it never seemed that they were falling behind in the game or allowing the bowlers to get on top. I feel this quality will prove handy for him for a long time,” he added.

Great win for Bangladesh

The management’s decision to open the batting with the spin bowling all-rounder Mehidy Hasan did wonders. The batter seemed in complete control and it won’t be wrong to say that he has been the team’s player who is ready for any sort of role in the team.

Mehidy Hasan along with Najmul Shanto tormented Afghanistan’s bowlers and made sure that they don’t face a string of dot balls and were quite keen on capitalizing loose deliveries. Bangladeshi fans would be hoping that Sri Lanka defeats Afghanistan which would seal Bangladesh’s spot for Super 4 stage.
