BAN vs AFG: Mehidy Hasan’s All-Round Show Guides Bangladesh For An Easy Win Against Afghanistan

An all-around show from Mehidy Hasan as Bangladesh got to their first victory in this edition of the World Cup after their bowlers dismantled Afghanistan for 156 as they won by  6 wickets with more than 15 overs to spare. Mehidy Hasan looked in complete control as he not only struck a half-century but also took 3 wickets.

It’s a day to forget for Afghanistan, especially for their batters as they are looking for a better performance going forward in the World Cup. Their bowlers did their best but with just 156 in a 50-over game, they could not do much with the ball as Naveen ul Haq, Farooqi, and Omarzi picked up a wicket each.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to field first against Afghanistan in their opening game of the World Cup. Bangladeshi bowlers justified their captain’s call as they bowled a great line and length especially spinners used the pitch to the full advantage

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan led from the front as the veteran took 3 vital wickets for Bangladesh as he finished with the figures of  3 for 30 in his 8 overs. The captain was well-supported by Mehidy Hasan Miraz who had a brilliant spell of bowling as he finished with the best bowling figures of 3 for 25  in 9 overs

Shoriful Islam also did his role perfectly at the start of the power play he finished with 2 for 34 in just 6.2 to bundle out Afghanistan to a mere 156 in just 37.2 overs. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored for Afghanistan with a 62-ball 47 in an otherwise ordinary outing with the bat for  them

After the brilliant spell with the ball  Mehidy Hasan Miraz showcased his all-round skill with the bat as he scored a brilliant half-century scoring 57 off 75 balls with 5 fours. He was well supported by the man in the form  Najmul Shanto who also scored a well-crafted half-century and guided his team to victory.
