I was hearing plenty of noise that 30 was too old- Mitchell Johnson

Writing in his column the Australian quick has stated that the current Australian squad is ageing, and they should replace them soon. He said that during his time making a comeback after 30 was almost impossible. He wrote,

“It’s funny remembering back to when I was injured at 30 and trying to get myself back into the team.  I was hearing plenty of noise that 30 was too old as a fast bowler and that it was an age when you have peaked or are starting to slide out of your best form. ‘It’s the building of the future that Australia must be looking at,” said Mitchell Johnson.

He added that most of the current crop of players are aged above 32 except for Marnus Labuschagne who is 29.

“Spots are up for grabs as the Australian Test team prepares to enter a period of dramatic change, with eight of the likely XI to face Pakistan in the first Test at Optus Stadium this week aged 32 or older. At 29, Marnus Labuschagne is the youngest player in the expected line-up,” he added.

Fast bowler Lance Morris, 25, should be the first of those- Mitchell Johnson

Mitchell Johnson stated furthermore that this summer is a great opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their talent and Pacer Lance Morris is currently regarded as one of the brightest prospects of Australian Cricket should make his debut in the test.

“This summer is a great opportunity to blood some young or performing players, especially when it’s against two teams in Pakistan and the West Indies who have struggled in Australia for a decent period of time,” said Mitchell Johnson.

Lance Morris is one of the Fastest bowlers in Australia currently and he was previously picked for the Australian tour of India earlier this year. Even though he didn’t play any matches the tour will be a good experience for him. He is travelling with the squad throughout this year and it is likely that he will be making his debut this summer.

“Fast bowler Lance Morris, 25, should be the first of those. With Perth likely to present a fast and bouncy pitch, there would be no better place for the young tearaway to steam in for his Test debut,” he added.
