Veteran Australian Opener David Warner penned an of-the-heart note before the start of probably his final test series. Several posts and words from current and ex-cricketers and also by himself have indicated that the final test against Pakistan in Sydney is going to be David Warner final game in the format.

There has been a lot of buzz around David Warner by the former pacer Mitchell Johnson who has questioned his place in the team. It won’t be wrong to say that there is unnecessary attention drawn by Johnson ahead of the marquee series and David Warner in return has been vocal too.

Taking his official Instagram handle on Wednesday David Warner shared a few pictures from his cricketing journey and also shared an emotional message for the younger generation to believe in themselves and chase their dreams. The Veteran batter wrote,

“To all the young kids out there, this was me when I first received my baggy and flick left to now. I want to remind you that your dreams are incredibly important. Whatever it is that you aspire to be or achieve, remember that your dreams are valid and worth pursuing,” 

Elaborating his words David Warner continued,

“Believe in yourself and your abilities, and never be afraid to dream big like I did. Whether you dream of becoming a professional athlete, an artist, a teacher, or anything else, know that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, you can turn your dreams into reality,”

He also advised the youngsters not to pay attention to the critics and back themselves. Warner added,

“Don’t let anyone discourage you or tell you that your dreams are too big or too ambitious. Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you, and remember that setbacks and challenges are a natural part of the journey toward making your dreams come true. Stay focused, stay positive, and never stop believing in yourself and your dreams,”

The Left-hand Batter concluded,

“Your dreams are the fuel that can drive you to great accomplishments, so hold onto them tightly and let them guide you toward a future filled with passion and purpose. Believe in your dreams, and believe in yourself no matter what. #dreams #selfbelief #trust,” 

David Warner’s numbers in International Cricket

David Warner made his international debut in Jan 2009 against South Africa in the 20-over and 50-over formats but had to wait almost 3 more years to enter the scene in test cricket. He played his first test match in Dec 2011 against New Zealand in Brisbane.

So far, the Veteran Batter has accumulated 2894 runs in the T20I format, including one hundred and 24 half-centuries, and with an impressive strike rate of 141.30 in the shortest format. The Opening Batter has played 161 ODIs, scoring 6932 runs, which includes 22 tons and 33 half-centuries. He has a healthy average of 45.30 and a strike rate of 97.26 in the 50-over format.

David Warner has played 109 matches so far in test cricket and managed to score 8487 runs at an average of 44.43, which includes 25 centuries and 36 half-centuries with a highest score of 335 in the format. The Batter will be looking to repeat his past heroics and finish his test career on a high note in front of his home crowd.
