Asian Games 2023 is proving to be a fascinating tournament. India is all set to play their Quarter Final match on 03rd October (*opponent is not declared yet). The absence of Sanju Samson from India’s squad is quite baffling. Sanju Samson has got a game plan and a wide range of shots that can disturb the bowling unit.

All eyes will be on Rinku Singh, the batting sensation who set the IPL 2023 on fire. We should not forget that Rinku Singh recently made his T20I debut against Ireland and had a pretty decent outing. It would be interesting to see whether the Men’s team can bring the Gold medal as earlier India’s Women’s team won the Gold medal

I am surprised and worried because Sanju Samson is not on the Asian Games team- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra was flabbergasted with the absence of Sanju Samson from the Asian Games 2023 squad. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Sanju Samson should  have been in the squad and could have made him bat at any other position rather than ignoring him completely.

“I am surprised and worried because Sanju Samson is not in the Asian Games team. He was in the Asia Cup [as a reserve], but now he is not in the team for the series against Australia as well. What I feel now is that Ishan Kishan won’t be seen opening,” said Aakash Chopra.

“Shubman Gill will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ishan Kishan will play in the middle order and the management will give him enough chances so that he can cement his place there,” he stated.

“I feel Sanju Samson’s name should be there in the Asian Games squad. Let him play somewhere. He can’t come into the World Cup squad, but to think that he is not good enough to play the Asian Games, that’s not right. He came very close to making the World Cup squad, so he definitely should have been in the Asian Games team. In fact, he could have been the captain as well,” he added.
