Team India will be facing Sri Lanka in the final match of the Asia Cup 2023 at the Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka. The team in blue has a dead rubber match against Bangladesh, the team that is already eliminated. Virat Kohli would be roaring to get a big knock under his belt before the final. Virat Kohli so far has looked in sublime touch in the championship
Some reports claim that India will be looking to experiment with the playing eleven in the match, so India’s former batting coach Sanjay Bangar expressed his opinions. He feels Virat Kohli is in red-hot form, and with the records he has on the ground, you cannot ask him to make the bench.
Virat Kohli is someone who likes batting on this ground; he got excellent numbers at the venue, and he also scored a century against Pakistan. He has an average of 107 at the Premadasa Stadium, so it will be a tough call for the team to bench the players who are playing in the playing eleven from the last two matches because they were excellent. So it will be interesting to see which player gets the chance to play if India makes an experiment against Bangladesh.
Virat Kohli likes this ground- Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and said that the management should not rest the stalwart Virat Kohli against Bangladesh. Sanjay Bangar pointed out that Indian batters still have to solve the conundrum of middle order and made comments on Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammed Siraj as well
“Rohit Sharma is going to definitely play. Shubman Gill is a youngster in the making, so he will also play. Virat Kohli likes this ground, so team management can’t ask Virat Kohli to bench on this ground. The players at No. 4 and No. 5 are looking to cement their places and are likely to play,” said Sanjay Bangar.
The bowlers didn’t need to do too much work in the matches they played. Jasprit Bumrah didn’t have to bowl his entire quota of 10 overs in all matches. Similarly, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Siraj also didn’t have to do that with the ball,” he stated.
“There is always a slight question mark over the fast bowlers in terms of their workload management, but considering the sort of combination that has been created, with three spinners and three fast bowlers, and that the batters are in form, there is very little chance for us to see any other player,”– he added.
