In the hyped clash between Pakistan and India. The men in blue only managed a fighting target on the board because all the star top-order batsmen of the team could not do much with the willow; similarly, Virat Kohli, who could not execute his shot with perfection, ended up giving up his wicket. Wasim Jaffer analyzed Virat Kohli‘s dismissal.

In the match against archrivals Virat, while facing Shaheen Afridi, he tried to play the ball on the third man, but the wrong execution of the shot led him to drag the ball back on the stumps.

Maybe if Virat Kohli had played the ball straight, the dismissal might not have taken place- Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and gave pin point analyses of how the dashing batter Virat Kohli lost his wicket against the lethal speedster Shaheen Afridi. Wasim Jaffer stated that Virat’s execution was not good while playing the delivery against the pacer.

“Virat Kohli tried to play with an angle to the third man. The ball stuck a bit, and then he got that inside edge of his bat. Maybe if he had played it straight, the dismissal might not have taken place,” said Wasim Jaffer.

“When the ball is coming on the bat nicely, you can easily score runs for the third man. But when the ball is swinging around, there are chances that it can hit the stumps. The execution by Virat Kohli was not good either,” he added.

Rain played the spoil sport and Virat Kohli’s form a concern

Unfortunately, we did not get the result of the hyped match due to rain, but Pakistan looked a bit ahead in the match because the target posted by team India was just the fight, not the winning total. There might be a chance because of the testing conditions at Pallekele in Sri Lanka.

The chase master just scored 4 runs in the Asia Cup 2023 as he just got to bat in one match where he made 4 (7), and in the match against Nepal, he could not get the chance to hold the bat in the middle. Now India needs something big from him for the rest of the tournament.
