The billion people would be over the moon after the eclectic batter Shreyas Iyer is fit & available for selection for Asia Cup 2023. The management though will have to monitor Shreyas Iyer cautiously as the batter is quite injury prone and the side cannot afford to have any more setbacks when the ODI WC 2023 is around the footsteps.

India’s middle order though looks a bit fragile as the likes of KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer haven’t performed in crucial matches which is a concern for the team ahead of the much-anticipated ODI WC 2023. The management would be considering promoting Ravindra Jadeja up the order who can be used as a floater too.

Shreyas Iyer is looking net fit- Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was quite delighted after the return of Shreyas Iyer to the Asia Cup 2023 squad. Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out that Shreyas Iyer can solve the middle order problem for India ahead of Asia Cup 2023 and ODI WC 2023. Sanjay Manjrekar stated that the side this time has the likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer & Tilak Verma for the No.4 position.

“One big positive for Team India is that Shreyas Iyer is looking good. Running is involved in the net practice that has been going on in the camp. He was running well, which will solve our middle-order problem, which has been an ever-existing one. Iyer is looking net fit and is very close to being match fit,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

“India didn’t have enough options for the No. 4 spot during the last World Cup. We tried the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in that position. However, this time, it is different. We have many exciting options for the No. 4 position, with Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Tilak Varma being the potential candidates,” he added.

Shreyas Iyer is the X factor for India

Shreyas Iyer is tipped to be the next big thing in World cricket as the batter not only has a wide range of shots but can also play a long & effective innings for the team which is priceless in the modern cricket. Shreyas Iyer has the knack of filling up the shoes of the champion cricketer Yuvraj Singh as India is still looking for it’s no.4 batter.

Tilak Verma has emerged as the candidate for the middle order. The stylish left handed batter is quite fearless, we witnessed how he dethroned West Indies’ bowling attack in the recently concluded India vs West Indies which the Hardik Pandya led side lost the series by 2-3. Tilak Verma though would be tested against the spinners if given a chance against the arch-rivals Pakistan on 2nd September.
