Bangladesh cricket team was completely outplayed by the invincible Pakistan. Skipper Shakib-al-Hasan should have batted a bit more responsibly in the crunch match. Shakib-al-Hasan was dismissed on 53  runs in 57 balls and should have made the most of the start.

Pakistan cricket team would be over the moon as chasing down the target of 194 runs with more than 10 overs left in the match says a lot about the team’s dynamics. It was a collective effort from the Pakistani team who never allowed Bangladesh to take control of the match.

Shakib-al-Hasan got out while playing the pull shot- Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and said that he was quite surprised with the way skipper Shakib-al-Hasan got out against Pakistan. Sanjay Bangar expected Shakib-al-Hasan & Mushfiqur Rahim to prolong their innings or their partnership

“Thus far in this tournament, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz batted well, so the expectation was that Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim would prolong the innings or their partnership,” said  Sanjay Bangar.

“Shakib & Mushfiqur lost their wickets after getting set. Shakib got out while playing the pull shot but when Haris Rauf returned to bowl, Mushfiqur played a very adventurous shot on the first delivery itself. However, before that, both of them took them to a slightly respectable position with their partnership,” he added.

Poor Performance by Shakib-al-Hasan & Co

Bangladesh should have put a score in excess of 270 which would have given them a strong chance in the match. Mushfiqur Rahim perhaps needs to bat up the order and guide the batters in the middle overs phase rather than playing the role of the finisher.

Shakib-al-Hasan needs to play a captain’s knock, he along with Mushfiqur Rahim needs to do the bulk of the scoring if the side wants to put a mammoth total on the board. Bangladesh’s next challenge is against Sri Lankan cricket side on 9th September at Colombo which promises to be an intriguing contest as Shakib-al-Hasan would be eyeing revenge.
